The stock market is amoral and investors are ruthless. They do not care about cancer cures or other altruistic considerations - the only issue is the monetizing of products and services. If a company is profitable, eventually the share price will approximate that reality, and the same is true with unprofitability.

Therefore, the relevant questions are how these data releases influence short term perception and long term reality for Kazia profitability. The short term perception is there will be no immediate gratification and so the instinct is to sell. The real issue then becomes whether Kazia's longer term profit prospects have been damaged by the data.

My interpretation is that Kazia has not been negatively impacted - far from it - but I welcome informed dissent.*
