It seems to me like the only reason they brought this suit forward is to balance out the allegations from Manajem. It's a way to be like, "he said she said" which is my understanding of how Saudi courts are governed. That way, they can agree to both drops their charges and have a quick, smaller settlement.

For example, and this is may not be super relevant but a good anecdote nonetheless, I've met someone through legal work that killed someone in Saudi (ostensibly in self defence), but the family of the person killed didint come forward to claim the death of this gentleman, So he was let go. Alternatively, the family could have also just asked for recompense instead of his death. The family not coming is another story, but from my, admittedly brief, experience.: Saudi justice is not about always following the same rule no matter what. It's about creating a fair balance amongst parties in each seperate occasion.
