Thx jezyh - I've just read the IAR and see the planned solution for discharge of excess water from the pits is dilution, ie. releasing controlled quantities once water flow in the nearby river exceeds a specified volume. No water treatment of discharge water mentioned.
Does anyone know how acidic the water in the pits is and whether GNX plan to treat the water in the pit to reduce acidity or is the hydro pump spec'd to withstand pumping acidic water?
FYI - after being exposed to air and water, oxidation of metal sulfides (often pyrite, which is iron-sulfide) within the surrounding rock and overburden generates acidity.
