My post from the RLT board which is applicable here;
Yup, there are no current LNG import terminals in South Africa.
But that will not last - LNG terminals will be built in Maputo (Mozambique) and Richards bay in the near future.
When bulk LNG is imported then the south african price will reduce to align with international bulk prices.
So inland NG permit holders like RLT and KKO have an incredible window of opportunity as first-mover LNG suppliers before bulk LNG arrives because they can set their LNG price against diesel and harvest the higher margin.
So what have KKO and RLT done with this window of opportunity?
. . . .squandered and wasted it . . .
RLT through their incompetent and arrogant mishandling of the Phase 1 plant
and
KKO through their glacial and ineffective exploration and development program.
