I thought the best part of that announcement was
"The Kingaroy UCG site will provide competitive base load electricity to the Australian domestic market given that the costs of production are about half the cost of natural gas"
If my figures are right, this indicates that it should also cost less than a conventional black coal plant. Add to that 20+% less CO2 and it reads winner.
