The main threat would not be directly from the government but from influential businessmen who might decide they want to get into the industry without paying full price. If that were to happen, they would probably start with recruiting activists to find some problem with the company's activities and stir up trouble until the government is 'forced' to do something.

That sort of thing has happened in the past, but it might be harder for the corrupt businessmen now that Indonesia is becoming more law-based. If it happened to us, I would expect it to play out more along the lines of Kingsgate's experience in Thailand. Although I wouldn't wish those wasted years on anyone.

Crazy to be having this conversation when it was only a few years ago that the company couldn't even sell its farms.
