I won't waste my time on the political match ups but Wayne Swan would definitely take a leading role with his "friendly" attitude to all things mining and people making any money. Probably try and "fix" things with a tax on thorium. Norman Moore would be another given.

Coincidently we also have an election due next year. Doubt Australia would have produced quite such a ridiculous farce but it may not been all that much better, could easily see the Greens using the issue as a rallying point into the next election.
