Correct but not the full picture so no cigar
Its basic flue effect here the density of air at the base is lower than at the top of the chimney so the air must rise, Uderlying the assertion i make is the lower density air is less dense as it has more energy which causes the molecules to bombard each other at a higher rate which causes them to be further apart from each other than more dense air The molecules will seek to find a lower energy state (entropy) and therefore will move to the more dense air where ever that is, in this case it is the cooler air at the top of the tower the density of air inside the top of the chimney being the same as that at the base will not occur due to displacemnt of that air from the underlying lower density air so the tech is incorrect IMHO.
