What is flawed is their 1 shot delivery to cure approach for Benitec. This is the issue. That is the problem with Benitec directors and the company.
They just need to sort out the delivery of the ddrnai to the cell.
They only need to use 2 or 3 shots to deliver the gene medicine and we will have a working medicine. Why focus on 1 shot? People won't care if they have to get 2 or 3 shots to be cured.
It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Getting 1 shot is not important if 1 shot doesn't work.
The Hep C trial failed due to delivery not being effective. Transduction failed. ddRNAi didn't fail. But they didn't fix delivery to the cell! Instead they cancelled the trial!
Benitec need to make the delivery in 1 shot or 2 or 3 shots.
People are more interested in that the medicine works. Because Gene medicine is more precise with less/zero off target problems.
Benitec need to do deals/JointVenturess with others who have the delivery technology that works.
eg. For the Hep C....they could do a deal/ joint venture with others that have the delivery sorted. Apparently arena virus can deliver to liver cells with multiple shots. They need to ditch AAV and use Arena Virus. use multipe shots...which should be safer anyway in terms of monitoring and dosing. If it can be packaged, they could still have a Hep C and Hep B working medicine using multiple shot delivery.
siRNAi medicine has been approved with a few medicines now. They have the delivery sorted. siRNAi works in a similar way to ddRNAi. Gene medicie works and has FDA approval.
The ddRNAi will work. They have shown it works in the testtube already. ddRNAi is the only real valid competitor to siRNAi.
Benitec shouldn't be domiciled in the US. Australians are getting ripped off. ddRNAi technology is very valuable.
