The big problem is that if you actually drop the tenement after all this is done due to lack of exploration success or simply run out of money then the next Fella ( Company ) comes along and picks up the ground and then they've got to go through the whole heritage survey thing all over again and low and behold there's a delay because the whole circle is being played out everywhere and the heritage groups can't keep up.
Simple answer!!! once a survey is done in an area, it is recorded on a website for everyone to see and instead of the rinse and repeat cycle and associated costs & delays, there is simply a standard fair fee paid to the locals so there are no more delays and no more extra costs going to all the hangeroners!!!

I'm actually surprised they got out of the air conditioning in the land cruiser. It's probably the 5th time they have been made to do the same inspection and I imagine there be some pesty government official trailing behind taking notes and photos. You would think if it's $100000 for the initial inspection and clearance couldn't the government just renew the permit and charge $50000 to save all involved the time and ridiculous costs. I'm not sure but I would imagine the boys would be far happier playing there games on there phones in the shade with a few refreshments to quench there thirst rather than kicking the same rocks for the 5th time
