IMO Novonix is more of evaluating their own process, than LKE Carbonate. Their procedure of making cathode material is completely new, industry today needs Li Hydroxide for making Nickel rich cathodes (eg. NMC622). Today Carbonate can be used only for LFP cathodes.
Novonix, Nano One and possibly others are trying to use Li Carbonate for Nickel rich cathodes, because Carbonate is cheaper to make and less CO2 intensive. Hydroxide has also problems with shelf life.
High purity battery grade Carbonate is the future
IMO Novonix is more of evaluating their own process, than LKE...
