Nice point but the ponds have a " lined cutoff wall or driven sheet piles " to stop the lost of the brine so other than the initial saturation to develope the pavement floor there should be no lost ! dilution could occur if say the sheet piles are not fully embedded or the clutches are not tight allowing surface water in especially after a rain events or it could just be weaker brine with a mixture of all issues.
