Thanks for the post - I need to look into/think about the mica angle more.
However, I think the biggest target for MIN is the diversion of fines. Galfeng requested these be reduced and made it more attractive for MIN to sell the SP4 with limited fines than SP5/6 with fines. MIN's customers don't like the fines as it buggers up the traditional beta to alpha processing. If the LIT tech is proven, I think MIN will send as much flotation fines to it as possible. This'll enable increased yield and ultimately the size of the resource (as cut-offs are lowered).
Note, PLS have just approved their solution for fines with a definitive investment decision for a pilot plant (albeit one that's large enough for commercial operation). Completely different technology - but it also produces LiPO4 from spodumene fines. May they both be successful!
