I can see merit in targeting progressive local government (councils e.g land fill odour management) and state governments (e.g. south australia introduced recycling years before the rest of Australia) but when it comes to mining, think of those who fund political parties - let's hope Tony Abbott doesn't get back in.. he loves coal.
