A level headed post @PortfolioPlus, thanks. I have never met Greg. He is likely a charming person & perhaps a genius but it seems that he was a cause of friction in the board well before his "forced" retirement. It is rather complicated because of the family dynamics. The question is that is he really indespensible. 2 highly regarded & highly credentialed German researchers (Thomas Schlafer & Christiane Schultz) were brought in 2017 , both with PhD in Mterials/coatings. They are more qualified than Greg to lead R&D. I totally agree that a consulting role (off premises) is totally appropriate , but I came to the conclusion, after reading Grasshopper's lengthy posts, that directoship role is not in the best interest of the company.
