RC was quoted as saying in Gas Today in Spring 2014 the following:

"What lessons did you learn from taking QGC from a small explorer to the major company it is today? Have you applied any of these lessons learned to Central Petroleum?
I’ve always said there are four components to creating a Top 20 company.
1. You need generational assets potential. Ask yourself: are you still going to be working on those assets in thirty years’ time? Has this acreage got the potential for a second or third generation of employees working on it? If the underlying assets have the potential to be generational, then it is worth the work.
2. You also need clarity of purpose and branding – that is, people need to know who you are and what you are doing.
3. Next you need other people’s people – in a small operation you need to borrow-in professional expertise. You can rely on training and already having expertise, but you have to find ways to use other people’s people so you have access to experts.
4. Then you need opium, as I call it: other people’s money. By finding partners who can commit funds at the project level, you can preserve shareholders’ control of the company and avoid dilution and still pay for the development of assets.
In addition to those four basics, you’ve always got to take the long-term view: Rome wasn’t built in a day. Get your fundamentals right, and recognise that you’re not in control of events because you are a minnow, and therefore you have to get yourself to be able to influence that which you cannot control.
Lastly, manage your cash. You have to be meaner than a junkyard dog and tighter than anything with the purse strings. In a small company it is vital to preserve and use the money carefully, so that it does the job that shareholders need it to do to transform the company."
