The mini refinery idea has been tossed around for decades and nothing's ever come of it so I'm not holding my breath that it will happen now. But yes, to pump oil from Mereenie (or Surprise), truck it Alice, rail it to Bonython, ship it to Singapore, refine it, ship it back to Darwin and then rail it back to Alice is a pretty wasteful way of doing things. But the low demand in Alice presumably has made previous proposals for local refining unviable.

It's the same story with the CNG proposal.

Note the reference to piping gas to Ballera costing $4.50/GJ. I'm not sure where the contract delivery point is, though spot sales will presumably have to go further to Walllumbilla for delivery. APA doesn't give a tariff for Ballera to Wallumbilla but it's probably around 80c.

 So this confirms the discussion in the previous thread that for CTP to get gas from the Amadeus to Wallumbilla will cost north of $5. We still don't know what the 90% of gas that's sold under firm contract will pay as a tariff as we don't know the backhaul arrangements. Hopefully we can work it out from future company releases.
