Difficult to put an exact number on it, though it is estimated that 750,000 Australians use cannabis every week, and approximately 300,000 use it on a daily basis. Australia has one of the highest cannabis use illegally,and Australia's indigenous population has higher levels of cannabis use.

In 2019, the TGA granted 25,182 applications from doctors to prescribe the drugs, largely in the form of an oil.

This represented a more than 10-fold increase on the previous year, so the numbers are increasing , it is all about educating the doctors, some still have apprehensions and wait for full govt approval, legislation is currently in parliament and discussions are happening this month.

Most of those prescriptions were for chronic pain, and nearly half of them (10,000) were prescribed in the last three months of the year.If the prescription rate was to stabilise, more than 50,000 prescriptions will be written in 2020,figures from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) show medical cannabis prescriptions are snowballing.


But Australia isn't the be all end all of it example : currently THC has contact with Canada and the company has received orders from Licensed Producers Canada to supply bulk GMP product from the Southport Facility to be delivered in the second half of 2020.
