Facebook did not fail with parse, it was actually quite profitable but it doesn't align with facebooks future goals as a company. They belive that the recourses will be better spent on VR and AI technology. This could not have worked out better for buddy as they got it for free along with the parse client base. They also got to network and collaborate with facebook employees.
