Re-read the various links Dave has provided. They wouldn't be scrapping the subscription model if data sales wasn't going to replace it by multiples, and then some. The way it reads, Parse on Buddy will soon be the preferred option, if it isn't already.

This article in Forbes provides good insight into the size of the Enterprise Data opportunity. With Buddy working hand-in-glove with FB, that opportunity will only grow.

What is not to like

The new forever free model for developers is expected to accelerate platform data growth which is already at 50%+ per month, building a foundation for Buddy’s substantially more lucrative alternative data business (compared with the prior subscription revenue model), as announced in the Company’s recent March 2017 Quarterly commentary announcement.
