Yes, but did you risk the equivalent value to a house or a deposit on a house on those shares and other high specs and did you make enough to cover any losses on other shares too? Gearing on houses is easier than on shares and the margin calls equivalent are rare on property lending although mortgage clauses doo cover it in the event when property prices do fall.
