Hi rA, perhaps you are are familiar with that area than I am, and know something that the company and their consultants were not aware of with regard to the proposed location of the tailings dam. It was my understanding that they had carried out quite exhaustive research into a number of locations, and the chosen site was believed to be the most suitable and the most likely to survive the approvals process.
As far as I'm aware, the proposed site was approved on technical and environmental grounds, but rejected on political grounds.
I would be happy to be corrected if you know more about the site than has been known in the public arena.
