My guess is that just like all the other sporadic down rampers, he wants to buy in as cheap a possible.. if he didn't think there was any growth/value in WC8 he wouldn't be wasting his time attempting to beat it down.
He clearly states he has friends holding so we can assume he is reasonably informed about the potential here.
