That's an exaggeration especially considering California and New York are global economic powerhouses in their own right and NYC and LA are beautiful cities. Florida, otoh is where the lazy go to die.
Mali has terrorism concentrated in the north, while Goulamina is in the south and so the fear is overblown.
It's like saying don't invest in South Korea cause they share a border with a rogue nuclear power.
That's an exaggeration especially considering California...
