While oil prices are rising, the US strategic petroleum reserve (SPR) is at its lowest levels since 1983. If the USA aims to fill its SPR (which it has stated it wants to do), then the demand and price of oil will continue to increase.

A fairly standard and expected formula would be: increase in oil prices = increase in profit margins = increase in profits = increase in share price.

Potentially an increase in asset value also.
