Conan you clearly are not up to date on grid scale BESS. You missed my line on BESS technologies. Suffice to say there are much better technologies commercially available for LARGE SCALE grid storage than Li with no fire risk, no degradation, non toxic, fully recyclable and >25year life. Even 8hr storage with these can be sufficient for base load stabilisation. This will all take time but pretending there isn't current availability is short sighted. Think about deglobilisation, energy independence from unstable jurisdictions and the opportunity that Australian can seize to become a world energy leader. I would look into grid scale storage before making such sweeping, incorrect statements. Out of interest, how can we get water when it isn't raining? Anyway this has gone off topic.
