They currently are trying to be seen as investor friendly and have made changes recently to increase royalties from mining which is a good move, unfortunately for them this Indiana seizure was a bad move and will no doubt hurt their budget.
They have 2 more case’s ongoing and internally legal experts are urging them to negotiate those, trying to annul our case would be to suggest foul play or improper procedure/conduct etc which my not be a good move with other cases in play unless they had good justification which I doubt.
It’s a poor country I expect we could see payments spread out over a couple of years. Bottom line is they are making money out of the resource on the back of our investment.
Sucks for the people of these countries that have been exploited for decades by corrupt politicians and foreign entities but that’s no fault of IDA. They really have no choice but to pay if they want further investment and confidence from the international community.
