Buyer does DD on assets, decides to choose Antares. Other people looking to sell their assets find out who that buyer is and decide "wait a second, maybe if we do a better deal with them that might sway them to buy ours". Selling war ensues.

It's called negotiations mate. They perhaps had negotiations with others and Antares deal was the most attractive. Once they find out who the buyer was and that if they had given a better deal they might have been able offload some of their assets, guess who might starting trying to woo this buyer...
