Well Elon Musk has made his shareholders rich. Plus his renumeration was 100% performance based at Tesla. No salary. Shareholders will forgive your eccentricities if you make them money, and even more so if it doesn't look like you are taking their money and just putting it right in your own pocket.
It does look to me like Jimmy might be quietly staging his exit from the company. Just based on him removing CI1 from his LinkedIn profile. If that's actually happening the business could very quickly be back in profit.
