Your history is mistaken. The Board didn't offer any incentives to get Chris onboard He was already onboard, with no incentives. Then an attractive external offer appeared. Chris simply decided that he was entitled to grab some of it for himself. So the footy club analogy isn't applicable.
Also, are you aware of Chris's "achievements" at RAC? RAC had a near-death experience while he was on the Board. He wouldn't have been solely responsible for that, but it certainly doesn't look good.
