Yep, WD prob wants 25% share for crumbs (15c) as they know that there is a huge probability that they will never fully develop the product, but it is chump change to them anyway.
Perhaps 4ds will get swallowed up like many other ram projects have in the past. This happens frequently with mergers. Not sure if WD and 4DS are involved in any mergers, but if they are I'd be very concerned.
WD have their eye on what the leading reram player is doing and understand how easy it will be to simply run with their advanced ip that is extremely cheap to manufacture, rather than trying to reinvent.
The only way to win in the reram space is to hold all the ip. Have a truely cutting edge technology that can help grow tier 2's into future tier 1's. But where can we find such a technology?
