Advisers and brokers are all dodgey. I do not differentiate between them. The brokers you are talking about may need to be more 'sophisticated' to deal with sophisticated upper class bogans, whereas stock tip brokers only need to fool regular bogans. Fundamentally I see no difference, they are just interested in their brokeage which is usually very handsome for their comparitavely small efforts.
You're right though, brokers who help raise capital are needed, a necessary evil. I'm not suggesting for a moment that they are not needed, just that they are dodgey.
