Just to be clear, I don't believe that the objective of the programme of drilling coreholes would result in any gas flows.

If the objective of the programme was the drilling appraisal wells, then we would expect to see gas flows.

I believe coreholes are literally just that, taken to analyse the nature of the rocks and coal and compare them to the existing subsurface data set the company has for the asset in an effort to get a more complete picture and with the aim of identifying future places for drilling appraisal or development wells.
