day before the announcement the shares were at 20c, traded down to 19c in the days after, with a surge (19.5 -> 22.5) on the 13th when the company released their statement challenging as well as the 4c the previous day. So I think you will find market did not like the idea of Ward returning and only responded positively when board announced they would fight it.
