A sale price above the current spot price would be an obvious indicator that AGY’s product is of sufficient quality, and in sufficient demand, to attract a premium price.
Conversely, a sale price below the current spot rate would be an obvious indicator that demand for AGY’s product hasn’t been as high as expected, and JZ has likely had to compromise and provide a discount just to get this small sale over the line.
It’s not so much the dollar value that is crucial, but it’s the indicator of where things are headed. JZ mentioned he is aiming for a premium price, but omitted to inform shareholders whether his aims were realised.
I’m sure those watching over the years can work out for themselves whether that’s likely to be a good or bad thing…..
