Take this announcement for what it is. What it clearly says. LifX has designed a new light to compete in the low price Wi-Fi bulb market, they have shopped it around and have received large enough interest to order parts and begin manufacturing 500,000 units. That’s it. Yeah it’s not a purchase order. They need to make the thing first.
When LifX announced the switch they didn’t give us specific purchase order numbers. no conspiracy here. It’s a good announcement.
it’s a good move. My personal opinion is that the low priced off-brand bulbs took a bite out of LifX sales in 2019. So this is a good response to market demand. If a customer buys a couple cheap bulbs maybe they will move up to the higher priced products.
