1. CAP was a recently listed exploration company with very experienced and effective technical management focused on discovery of big ore bodies. 2. The Executive Chairman - Nick Sheard. Nick a former CRA, MIM and Inco/Vale exploration executive and geophysicist by trade. He had an excellent exploration CV.
Ever since Nick retired in 2014 and the companies share price has been in structural decline.
Do a time series of the the SP and its evident it fell of a cliff in the 12 months after Nick retired and has never really recovered since.
The Chairman, MD and board that followed Nick's era were markedly inexperienced in comparison and that has dogged the company since.
Advancing and monetizing (or abandoning) the Hawsons Project is a major challenge that requires giants not minnows to navigate. The evidence of the SP trajectory, failure to secure FS funding and make technical break through proves the management and board that followed Nick's era were just not up to the task. Market support drained.
Where to from here is anybodies guess but the current mess is not going to attract investors committed to development and value adding. It could attract a mob of sharks looking to feed on wounded prey.
Sad, indeed.
