Thanks PP. Yes after thinking about it more I see your perspective. Unfortunately as the minority partner IGO have no real influence over proceedings, which is obvious given how this has played out. But whilst there is an immediate hit, I do like that the pricing mechanism lag has significantly reduced and will more realistically match the market.
As I saw it, IGO lost regardless:
- in a rising price environment, due to the lag they were not capturing optimum price
- in a falling price environment, they were not capturing the optimum sales levels (since Tianqi would turn to the spot market)
