LOL, just go back to my original comment where I pointed out that government banks only care about funding lithium projects in their own backyard. The proposal here is between two European countries (German funding for a Portuguese project). Barossa is a small, low-grade operation (28Mt at 1.04%), and the only reason anyone’s interested is because it’s in the Eurozone—Europeans looking after Europeans.
It’s similar to uneconomical projects like Wolfsburg in Austria, which has 12.9Mt at 1%. Europeans are trying to build up their own industry, which is why there's funding interest. But you don’t see them funding projects outside their own backyard, do you? Oh, and by the way, the example you gave is just a non-binding Letter of Interest.
It’d be great if you could point to an actual loan that’s been finalised or funded.
