As you pointed out, AGY's recent focus on frugality has been excellent, especially compared to some of my other holdings, where management are still spending like drunken sailors. I was genuinely surprised by how low the expenditure was in the last quarterly report. Naturally, we won’t see anything new on that front in the annual report, but I’m keen to check the next quarterly report in about six weeks to determine whether last quarter’s exceptionally low spending was a one-off or a sustainable trend.
Personally, I doubt costs can remain that low if they’re engaging external consultants like Saxum and Lycopodium while aiming to deliver a DFS by year’s end. We’ll just have to wait and see how things shape up at the end of April. One key detail I’ll be watching is the consultancy fees for Lycopodium, as it must be disclosed as a related party transaction given Peter De Leo’s role at both Lycopodium and AGY.
Additionally, I’m interested in whether ATL are still holding their position. There was a curious correlation between their holding size and a major exit during the ASX rebalance last September. If they’re still in, great. If not, it could support my theory that they were primarily after a cheap offtake rather than a long-term commitment. No idea if I’m right or wrong on that—it’s just a thought.
