"As the lithium carbonate product being produced is not considered battery grade by generally accepted criteria, iLiMarkets was engaged to provide the economic value of the intermediate product by providing costs, and subsequent reduction of sale price, to produce battery grade lithium-hydroxide."

The $2606 is the cost is to convert from 99.x% lithium carbonate to battery grade hydroxide. To get hydroxide all brine needs to be converted from carbonate first. if ASN wants to produce hydroxide for a battery manufacturer they will incur a similar cost.

Paul said they will be producing 99.5% lithium carbonate at the well head:

5:11 filter system most importantly what we
5:13 found from our testing is that we have
5:16 very large recovery rates of up to 94%
5:20 lithium recovered but we reject
5:23 99.9% of the impurities that are also in
5:26 that salty brine when we bring it to
5:28 surface and and the benefit to that is
5:31 that we have a much simpler flow sheet
5:35 for the downstream processing of lithium
5:38 carbonate so what happens is very
5:40 quickly we produce lithium carbonate at
5:42 about a
5:43 99.5% purity at the well head so this is
5:48 quite unheard of and uh it has attracted
5:51 a lot of the oems and um I was out at
5:55 site with a large OEM two weeks ago
