Agree. While some don’t see much demand for domestic battery recycling, we are logistically a long way from anywhere, and shipping batteries to be recycled wouldn’t make sense.
Recycle them here & either ship bulk product, or better still use it here.
Plus despite the long battery lifespan promises of EV makers, think about all the peripherals that attach to the car. Will the car itself last 15 years. Add in crashes etc.
Unless battery packs are transplantable into new car shells, or repurposed into homes or industry, they will need recycling. Same with home batteries - as technology progresses, people will upgrade.
Industrial & grid scale battery lifespans may vary just as much, depending on the technology and use.
