I bought in around Oct-17 at 6c with cash I had available. It rocketed to nearly 30c within 4 months and I sat there with my jaw on the ground accumulating on the way up. I bought chunks up to 23c! Morgan Stanley then put out their “oversupply” view and things fell pretty rapidly following that. I kept accumulating (averaging down) and have been able to pull down my avg. buy to just above 7c now. I’ve accumulated a fair sized holding and I have more confidence in it now at 3.7c than I had at 23c.....as so many more boxes have been ticked since.
I have always been a believer in the story here - but I really think that LKE is far less speculative now than it was when it was at nearly 30c. The hype on Lithium stocks was crazy back then and I guess the rising tide lifted all boats!
I’m convinced that the hype and FOMO will return to this market in a big way through the next 6-12 months. If LKE hit nearly 30c with bugger all runs on the board then, I wonder where it will go to with large, proven resources, proven battery grade/purity, demonstrated DLE at scale, the ESG slant (low carbon footprint and low water usage) and an offtake partner! Fair to say that I’m thinking it will go higher than 30c in the next 12-24 months........and that will be life changing for me.
Having said all of that, I’ve managed to build positions in ALB, LAC, TSLA and VUL (totalling about the same as what I’ve got tied up in LKE) to spread the risk. All of these have started moving already - so I’m expecting the same with LKE after a few more boxes are ticked through to Christmas.
