I think it was Grasburg (Gold Mountain) for memory that they were chasing gold and found huge amounts of economically viable copper.

Grasburg lies on the same belt as Tuvatu The Pacific Ring of Fire, their is also a copper gold mine not far from Tuvatu owned by Newcrest for memory.
