The unique opportunity with the demo plant is to get paid $$$ to process the Engie tailing dam material left over from Morwell open cut. In that instance the Mg and by products are just gravy. I laugh every time I see Engie ads saying they are working to carbon neutral by 2045. If the penny drops with people about the tailings dam situation as it currently stands, Engie will be in all sorts of reputational trouble. Currently the only options are to move it to Yallourn open cut (cost maybe $200m) or get it processed. Watch this space.
