QGL can extend the takeover, potentially I believe forever. I think it is very likely they will extend again.
My personal view is that they are extending the bid, because the cost of letting the bid lapse and then rebidding at a later date would be expensive. I believe they have already gone to the Foreign Investment Revue Board for takeover approval and probably dont want to go through that process again. So I think QGL are potentially waiting for a big boost in their share price once they get funding which may not be that far away.
Then you could potentially see a modified/sensible bid for LML.
