Superiority would come from say the product where they do need larger platelet size, for instance if they want to use graphene in drilling fluids (for oil well drilling) to plug pores in host rock for an oil well with a material that comes out easier than clay and can deliver a sizeable increase to flow rate of the well, no point trying to plug a 50micron hole if your platelet is only 10nm. eg. http://news.rice.edu/2011/12/08/a-starring-role-for-graphene-2/
