Given it's part of their income I'm not sure the tax treatment will be as you say. When I talk about generous options. I've heard a lot of people in other small caps miners who get long-term options complain that they get taxed when they get them and it takes ages to and may not even, get exercised. There may even be a choice.
The job for a tax accountant/adviser who they should consult. When I accompanied a client to a lawyer to consult on setting up a trust for it etc. He talked a big game misled us and pocketed the fee! Quelle surprise.
