We know our management take environmental considerations seriously, but how professionally astute of them to enlist the assistance of GHD to quantity them for those who wish to purchase our products: "The excellent environmental and social credentials associated with
Phase 1 are proving important in Lepidico’s advanced offtake negotiations."
I appreciate as well their respectful explanation to shareholders of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. Fascinating stuff. Also:
- solar pre heating of boiler feed water
- the use of green hydrogen instead of natural gas- potentially reducing their already low emissions "a massive 59%"
- the possible use of electric mining equipment when it becomes available
- the sequestration of carbon dioxide when producing lithium carbonate using our new conversion technology
- the reduction in emissions producing our "valuable by-products"
What's not to like? Has anyone else had Google Maps and their calculator out, trying to decipher the hint Joe dropped in the third paragraph on page 2? Transport emissions of our "products and by-products" are 37% of the transport emissions of our concentrate from Namibia to the UAE. Fudging a lot, the distance is approximately 3 times less, granting that the weight of the bulk material will also be less, plus ship emissions of course are substantially greater than those of land transport.
Back of the envelope calculations just for fun: the distance between the Port of Walvis Bay in Namibia to Port Dubai is 6180 nautical miles = 7112 miles = 11,446 kilometres, 37% of which is 4,235 km. Schwarzheide, Germany, where BASF are building their battery materials plant, is 6087 km from Abu Dhabi. Possibly? The point is management know exactly where our "products and by-products" are going if they are able to give us an exact emissions figure of 2,507 tCO2-e for the transport of our product, but due to confidentiality clauses are not yet able to divulge. It can't be either BJR or Bisley, as they are in China and SE Asia, respectively. Thank you, Joe, for the teaser. Hmm...?
