I assumed that extra money was for a potential warehousing deal - and was wrong if it is for extra costs.
The next one from Barda, i.e. after this deal, may be stocking up on febriDx for the event of a viral epidemic. So BARDA have a warehousing arrangement with healthcare businesses (like AVH.ASX - burns treatment) where they keep stock, and turn around the older stock (to buyers), maintaining an emergency supply within the use by date. They pay a bit for this too, improves economics for the partners, provides an emergency supply if there is a temporary production problem.
This (linked below) extra antibiotic prescribing during covid may have even contributed to the rise in Auto-immune conditions from Covid, due to gut microbiome impacts.
